LINDEN — After a sports car collided with a sports utility vehicle three teens were hospitalized with what police described as serious injuries.

According to police the accident occurred just after midnight on Sunday at the intersection of S. Park Avenue and Klem Avenue. The Linden Police Department Accident Investigation Team said a 2014 Chevy Camaro driven by 27-year-old Jersey City resident Ashton Pringle when it hit a 2016 Toyota Rav 4 driving east on Klem.

Three passengers in the Toyota:  a 15-year-old girl from Irvington, a 15-year-old boy from Irvington, and a 15-year old girl from Linden were all taken to University Hospital in Newark. According to police as of Sunday afternoon they were listed as being in serious but stable condition. There were no other injuries reported from the crash.

Pringle was charged with third-degree assault by auto. He was released on a summons with a first court date set for June 26.
