North Plainfield police responded to the home early Saturday after getting reports about a suspicious van parked in the driveway. But the van's driver sped off with the rear doors still open as the officers arrived.

Additional officers soon arrived and spotted the dryer in the driveway. They then entered the home and found the other two suspects carrying the washer up from the basement.

One suspect ran back into the cellar and tried to hide, but was soon found in the floor joists of a crawl space.

All three suspects were charged with burglary and attempted theft.
