A sweep of a London-to-Newark flight by a canine unit turned up nothing Thursday afternoon after authorities received an unspecified threat.

Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police spokesman Joe Pentangelo told the Associated Press that the British Airways flight, which is carrying 206 passengers and 13 crew members, arrived around 1 p.m. on Thursday

The jet was moved to a remote section of the airport and is surrounded by police and emergency crews. Pentangelo says the passengers' checked bags and carry-ons will be rescreened as a precaution.

"British Airways flight 185 landed normally this afternoon. Security checks are being carried out as a precaution. The safety of our customers and crew is always our top priority,' British Airways said in an emailed statement.

The Port Authority did not yet return a call for comment.

The New York Daily News reported security was increased around the airport after a call was made from a payphone inside Terminal B  threatening to shoot people in one of the airport's terminals if they were not paid $50,000 and a flight out of Newark.

It's not known if the two threats are related.
