“Rutgers Day” will offer nearly 500 performances, tours, exhibits and hands-on activities. The event is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free to the public.

Last year’s event drew a record crowd of 83,000 last year.

“Departments, student organizations, centers and schools will be here to show residents of the state of New Jersey how Rutgers serves the state through research, service and excellence in education,” said Terre Martin, associate director community affairs at Rutgers. “Whether it’s the engineering department or the chemistry department making ice cream using liquid nitrogen or somebody doing glass blowing, but explaining what’s happening as the chemicals are being heated up or the students on the Cook campus showing their animals and how they’ve raised them.”

This year’s highlights will include an interactive experience on the College Avenue campus on Voorhees Mall where visitors can learn about Rutgers transition into the Big Ten Conference. Gray Matters on the Busch campus will take a closure look at the human brain and visitors to the Douglass campus can experience the Global Village Learning Community where residents of ten special interest houses will immerse themselves in a particular language, culture or topic.

Shuttle buses will connect the College Avenue, Busch, Douglass and Cook campuses. For more information, visit http://rutgersday.rutgers.edu where you can also download the new Rutgers Day mobile app.
