TOMS RIVER — Police arrested a man who they say grabbed cash from a donation box at the Christ Episcopal Church on Washington Street earlier this month.

Vincent Passalacqua, 22, was charged Wednesday in the Sept. 4 burglary. He was arrested at Pine Rest Motel on Route 37, where he lives.

Passalacqua was caught on church surveillance footage breaking into the church donation box, police say.

He is being charged with burglary and theft by unlawful taking and was being held at the Ocean County jail.

"We want to thank the citizens who took the time to respond to our request for identification," police spokesman Ralph Stocco said. "They were instrumental in the apprehension of Passalacqua."
