‘This Time I’m in it for Love’ by Player: Doyle’s ‘Not-So-Top-10′ playlist
Player’s first hit was huge and it is a soft rock staple: “Baby Come Back” which was released in 1977 and spent three weeks at #1.
Before their first big hit, they opened for acts like Gino Vanelli and Boz Scaggs; afterward, they were invited to open for…Eric Clapton! Their follow up to “Baby Come Back” was the song I requested of Big Joe.
“This Time I’m In It For Love”, which, while it doesn’t get the love on oldies stations it deserves, was pretty bit in its day- it peaked at #10 in 1978. They had a few more minor hits after that, but tensions in the band led to its dissolution in 1979, although various combinations of member continued intermittently.
No, Big Joe didn’t play it.
