We had a call-in Thursday from Sal Risalvato, the executive director of the NJ Gasoline-Convenience-Automotive Association, backing us up on our opinion that the ban on self-serve gas in NJ needs to be lifted. The most interesting thing to know is he's been lobbying at the state house for a repeal of the ban arguing that it can help offset the expected gas tax hike.

As a follow up to Thursday's conversation, we offer this vintage Jon Stewart clip that sets the record straight and how very "dangerous" self-serve could be. Important to note, it's Sal's predecessor, not Sal, being interviewed and offering up an embarrassing view of the dangers of self-serve. This was at a time when the association was still clinging to the past and clinging to the ban. All that's changed.
