1967 - British band Procol Harum hit No.1 on the UK singles chart with 'A Whiter Shade Of Pale'. With little promotion, it reached #5 on the US charts as well, and became one of fewer than 30 singles to sell more then 10 million copies.

1987 - Yogi Horton, drummer for Luther Vandross' band, who also played on albums with Aretha Franklin and Diana Ross, jumped to his death from the window of a New York hotel.

1989 - Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders mentions while speaking at a Greenpeace conference that she once firebombed a McDonald's Restaurant. The next day a McDonald's is firebombed and the corporation soon threatens to sue Hynde if she doesn't agree to never repeat her story.

2002 - The whereabouts of Paul McCartney's secret wedding was revealed after months of secrecy.  The owner of the castle at which the wedding would take place, had let the info slip during an interview.
