1967 – Aretha Franklin releases her interpretation of the Otis Redding song “Respect.” Aretha’s version easily becomes more popular then the original.
1976 – A fan of Elvis Presley tries to scale the fence around Graceland in an attempt to meet his idol. Instead of meeting Elvis, the guy is escorted off the grounds by security. That fan was none other then Bruce Springsteen who was in town to play a gig.
1987 – A Bon Jovi concert conflicts with the graduation ceremony of South Beloit High School in Illinois. High School officials change the graduation time to accommodate the students. The majority of the graduates were planning on seeing Bon Jovi over participating in the graduation ceremony.
2003 – On “Dateline,” Madonna tells Matt Lauer that fame has never satisfied her, and that she is amazed with the need to become famous these days.
