1968 – The Byrds leave to tour in South Africa. However, they are down one ‘Byrd’ as Gram Parsons decides not to play in protest of the South African apartheid.
1974 – Mamas And The Papas singer Cass Elliot dies at the young age of 32 in her sleep from a heart attack. She had just played a sold out show in London, England. She was staying at Harry Nilson’s London flat when she died.
1990 – Elton John seeks treatment for an addiction problem and also for his eating disorder, bulimia. The singer checked into a Chicago clinic taking over a year off from touring and recording to get better.
2004 – Keyboard player Huby Heard died from heart problems. He had worked with Billy Preston, Teddy Pendergrass, Ray Charles, The Rolling Stones and Bill Wyman.
