The weirdest roadkill ever

So I'm in a parking lot yesterday outside a grocery store. Walking back to my car I see this small, hideous thing. Notice the structure of what's left of its wing. Notice the pointed ears. Yes, that's right. It's a bat. A creature with such keen echolocation skills they can fly right at you full speed and narrowly avoid your ear every time. Yet somehow this one became roadkill? Unless it had been sick and was dead already, I don't get it. I know this is so gross, yet I've never seen anything like it so like a freak I pulled out my phone to take this picture.
