Whether or not you like Gov. Christie, the fact that he's on the under card for the next GOP presidential debate is a sign that the event criteria needs adjusting.

Cable news networks are using national popularity polls when the primary election works on a state level. Because of their selection process, you have a situation where Christie is polling better than Jeb Bush in New Hampshire, but Bush is the only one of the two who made it to the main stage.

It's time for a revamp. I think we should look at early states rather than the whole country, and then have one stage.
