Since I was off last Friday, there was no request from for Big Joe to ignore, but I did play a portion of a song in honor of the first full day of summer on Monday. The song is called “First Day of Summer” by Tony Carey. Carey was formerly with Rainbow and was the lead singer of Planet P which had a minor hit (#63) in 1983 with “Why Me." Carey then went solo and scored his biggest hit, “Fine Fine Day” which peaked at #22. His follow up hit was “The First Day of Summer” which hit #33. I’ve played it on the air on the first day of summer for as long as I can remember. You can see videos for both "The First Day of Summer," and "A Fine, Fine Day," in the videos below.
