Researchers in England have found that playing Tetris is a good way to deal with cravings. It was effective in countering cravings for food, cigarettes, even sex!

The scientists believe that it is the focus required to play Tetris that does the trick; they also point out that it doesn’t have to be Tetris, but any visual task that is challenging diverts your mind off the craving you’re experiencing. The article says that the study subjects who played Tetris experienced cravings that were 24% weaker. I guess its not surprising that something that occupies your attention would make you forget about a craving while you’re playing, but I do find it surprising that it actually weakens those cravings. Video games are good for you!
