Teen bicyclist on Route 9 struck by car

A teen riding a bicycle on Route 9 in Lakewood was struck by a car on Tuesday morning.

Lakewood Police said the bike was struck and split in two at Courtney Road just south of County Line Road around 10 a.m. There is no word on the extent of the injuries to the bicyclist, who police said was wearing a helmet. Police have not identified anyone involved in the incident.

Route 9 was closed for a time in both directions but only the right lane on the northbound side remained closed for as of 11 a.m. for an investigation and cleanup.
