A Wayne teacher is under investigation following allegations she locked 3 and 4 year-olds in a bathroom as a punishment.

CBS New York reported the teacher, who was not named, has not been in class at the Packanack Elementary School since June 8.

Parent Kristin Paladino told the station she was contacted by the New Jersey Department of Children and Families’ Institutional Abuse Investigative Unit as part of an investigation.

Paladino told the Patch of Wayne her daughter was in a classroom where the teacher on one occasion spanked a boy on the butt, pushed him into the bathroom and locked him in it until he calmed down. She said the investigator was checking into only one case.

Wayne Township School Superintendent Mark Toback confirmed to the station a misconduct investigation was underway but could not provide details.
