A faulty weld that attaches a plate to a weight-bearing beam is at the foundation of the problem that has put more than 100 SEPTA rail cars out of service.
SEPTA began "enhanced Saturday service" for West Trenton and Trenton regional rail riders as one-third of its fleet is taken out of service because of cracks in the cars.
