February 6th, 2001 - Don Felder, guitarist, was fired from The Eagles. He would later attempt to sue drummer Don Henley and guitarist Glen Frey for wrongful termination and breach of an implied contract.

January 16th, 1996 - Jimmy Buffett finds inspiration for a new song 'Jamaica Mistaica' when Jamaican authorities open fire on his seaplane, mistaking it for a drug trafficker's plane.

January 9th, 1997 – It’s the day after David Bowie’s 50th birthday and he’s throwing a ‘Birthday Bash’ at the Madison Square Garden with special guests Sonic Youth, Robert Smith of The Cure,The Foo Fighters, Lou Reed and Billy Corgan. Bowie is also performing and the proceeds would go to the Save The Children fund.

January 2nd, 1971 - George Harrison's album 'All Things Must Pass' starts a seven week run at the No.1 position on the album chart. It makes Harrison the first solo Beatle to score a No.1 album.

December 19th, 1970 - Elton John's first US hit single, ‘Your Song’ enters the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It would peak at number eight in the US and seven in the UK.

December 12th, 1970 – Smokey Robinson and the Miracles start a two week run at No.1 on the singles chart with ‘Tears Of A Clown’. It was the group’s 26th Top 40 hit and first No.1.

December 6th, 1966 – The Beatles record Christmas greetings for two pirate radio stations. Radio Caroline and Radio London, both stations are broadcasting from ships anchored just off the British coastline.

November 28th, 1992 – Whitney Houston starts a record-breaking 14 week run at No.1 on the singles chart with ‘I Will Always Love You’, from the ‘Bodyguard’ soundtrack. The song was written by Dolly Parton.

Aerosmith makes an animated guest appearance on the Simpsons show. They aren't the first musical act to appear in the animated comedy and they won't be the last either.

November 14th, 1975 – Queen plays the first of two nights at the Empire Theatre in England to kick off the first night of their 78-date ‘A Night at the Opera’ world tour.
