1970 - Elton John makes his American debut as he kicks off a legendary six-night sold-out run at the Troubadour in L.A. In the audience that night were Don Henley, Quincy Jones and Leon Russell.

1968 - The Byrds leave to tour in South Africa. However, they are down one 'Byrd' as Gram Parsons decides not to play in protest of the South African apartheid.
July 27th
1968 - Cass Elliot attempts a solo career following the break up of The Mamas and the Papas with her version of 'Dream a Little Dream of Me'. It would be the most successful version of the song peaking at No. 12
July 22nd
1965 - The Rolling Stones are found guilty of public urination after they relieved themselves on a wall at a gas station in East Ham, England, in March. Mick Jagger, Bill Wyman, and Brian Jones were all fined and it was also revealed
July 6th
1966 - The Rolling Stones play at the War Memorial Hall in Syracuse. During the performance they allegedly desecrate the American flag by dragging it across the stage.
June 2nd
1967 - David Bowie releases his self titled debut album in the UK. This is the same day The Beatles, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", came out. "David Bowie" would later be released in the US in August and was a commercial failure at the time.
April 28th
1963 - Andrew Oldham catches a show of The Rollin' Stones at London's Crawdaddy Club. The next day he agrees to manage the band. Oldham saw potential in the group being positioned as "anti-Beatles"
April 27th
1966 - The Beatles use a cool new technique in a recording session at Abbey Road studios. It was in John Lennon's song 'I'm Only Sleeping,' they used a reversed guitar duet played by George Harrison.
April 20th
1968 - Apple Music ran advertisements soliciting tapes from unknown artists, offering financial grants as part of a deal to release records on the Apple label. A young James Taylor was among many that signed up.
