The son of "The Riddler" from the "Batman" TV series on Wednesday illuminated the iconic ball he designed atop the soon-to-open Revel casino in Atlantic City.
When the economy was booming, the casino industry helped the Atlantic City area grow at a faster pace than the rest of the state and nation. Over the last few years, however, the tables have turned and the Atlantic City metro area is recovering slower than most other American cities.
When the new Revel resort and casino opens in the spring, it's expected to give Atlantic City, and the entire south Jersey region an economic shot in the arm - but there is concern in some circles the 2-point-4 billion dollar project will simply draw gamblers away from other casinos, instead of attracting new visitors to town.
