Last week on Townsquare Media’s ‘Ask the Governor’ program, Gov. Chris Christie said he's not going to apologize for calling Assemblyman Reed Gusciora a "numbnuts," but that he's looking forward to sitting down with Gusciora soon for a nice little chat. Assembly Still Short of Votes Needed to Pass Gay Marriage Bill

Today, the majority of Assembly Democrats met behind closed doors. Several topics were discussed, but the focus was on a bill to legalize same-sex marriage in the Garden State. Governor Chris Christie vows to veto the measure if it passes both houses of the legislature, but it appears there’s another hurdle in the way for the Assembly. The votes aren’t there.

Assembly Panel Approves Gay Marriage Bill [VIDEO]

It was standing-room-only at a committee hearing in Trenton today as the Assembly Judiciary panel takes testimony on a bill to legalize gay marriage in New Jersey. The committee approved the bill just after 5pm after seven hours of testimony.  The bill has already been approved by a State Senate committee and top Democrats hope both full houses will vote on the measure this month. Governor Chris Christie vows to veto the bill if it passes.

Assembly Panel to Consider Gay Marriage Bill Thursday

The Assembly Judiciary Committee will meet Thursday at 10am to consider legislation to legalize same-sex in New Jersey. The Marriage Equality and Religious Exemption Act would eliminate the civil unions that have been in place since 2007. Many gay marriage advocates claim that civil unions have not provided equal treatment to New Jersey’s same-sex couples.
