Utility crews have restored service to nearly all customers who lost electricity when a line of powerful thunderstorms blew through central and southern New Jersey.
JCP+L has announced a number locations in Monmouth, Ocean, Mercer & Middlesex counties where free ice & water is being distributed as crews work to restore power from Saturday night's storms.
We're getting reports of power outages due to the extreme heat in parts of Long Branch and Monmouth Beach. As of 1:45pm Jersey Central Power & Light was reporting around 600 customers without power.

Power is being restored to areas of Monmouth County where over 5700 customers were without power at one point on a day with temperatures approaching the 90's.
Power is reportedly out in Bridgewater. A lot of callers to the station are saying they saw a bright light in the sky right before the power outage. Assumptions right now are that a transformer could have exploded in the area.
