The $50M added to the state budget by lawmakers for the subsidy to NJ Transit will remain in the spending plan when it is enacted Sunday by Gov. Phil Murphy.
Regular service resumed on Monday after "a sufficient number" of the fleet’s wheels passed "rigorous, around-the-clock testing and inspections," according to a statement from NJ Transit.
Off-peak direct trains into NYC have been suspended since September. A bill directs NJ Transit to study what it would take to make such service full-time.
