1946 - Legendary soul singer Al Green is born in Forest City, Ark. Best known for his song "Lets Stay Together," which peaked in the 70's.

1966 - Simon and Garfunkel made their UK singles chart debut with 'Homeward Bound.' Simon is said to have written the song at Farnworth railway station, Widnes, England, while stranded overnight waiting for a train.

1966 - Beach Boy Brian Wilson recorded the future classic song 'Good Vibrations', which went on to become the band's third U.S. number-one hit. As a child, his mother told him that dogs could pick up "vibrations" from people
