Nearing the End of My Journey – Kelly's Journey

It’s now been three weeks since my partial hysterectomy and I’m coming along as well as can be expected. I’m still a bit swollen, but I’m starting to get around a little faster. I haven’t been cleared for my normal exercise routine just yet, but I am allowed to do some walking. I am still not quite comfortable in anything that fits tightly around my waist, but I’m expecting that to improve as the weeks go on as well.

I had my two week post-op check up and I finally have some answers. The pathology report came back and my uterus was filled with adenomyosis, which is what was originally suspected, but wasn’t detected on the MRI report.

It’s been just over a week since my surgery and I’m coming along pretty well. Over the first couple of days, one of the incisions kept bleeding, but once I got it under control, it was fairly smooth sailing from that point on.

So, I’m officially nervous. I met with the surgeon this morning to go over the details of surgery day. The day before, I have to drink a bottle of magnesium citrate to “prep the bowel.” I have to be at the hospital at 6:00 in the morning for my 7:30 procedure.

Surgery Date Set, Everything's Falling Into Place – Kelly's Journey

So, the date's been set. I have to be at the hospital between 5:30 and 6:00 in the morning on May 1 for a 7:30 a.m. procedure. Before then, I have to meet with my doctor one more time to discuss everything and then get the routine "pre-surgery" bloodwork and then just wait. Now that the date is set, I admit, I'm a little nervous.
