Jersey's Favorite Hits

Lipps Inc. (pronounced like "lip sync") was a studio band formed in Minneapolis in the late 1970's. This band's biggest hit also happens to be one of "Jersey's Favorite Hits!"

Player is a Top-40 Rock band that gained fame in the late 1970s. Their biggest hit "Baby Come Back" is one of Jersey's Favorite Hits...but there's more to the band than that!

Robert Allen Palmer was born in England on January 19, 1949. He was a singer-songwriter/musician, known for a diverse mix of musical styles on his albums, as he combined soul, jazz, rock, pop, reggae and blues. He found success both in his solo career and with the "Power Station."

While the J. Geils Band formed in the 1960's, they didn't hit their "commercial" stride til the 1970's...and had their biggest success in the 1980's!

UB40 are a reggae/pop band formed in Birmingham, England in 1978. The band has had more than 50 singles hit the charts in England, and has had several international hits. But what may be most interesting is where the band got its name...

The Pretenders are an English and American rock band formed in Hereford England, in the spring of 1978. The original band lineup included founder and main songwriter Chrissie Hynde (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), James Honeyman-Scott (lead guitar, backing vocals, keyboards), Pete Farndon (bass guitar, backing vocals), and Martin Chambers (drums, backing vocals, percussion).

Happy Memorial Day Weekend...the (un)official kickoff to the summer season in the "Great Garden State!" As we play back summer songs on a "Stronger Than The Storm Weekend," I thought it would be fun to highlight a few of "Jersey's Favorite Hits" with the term "Summer" in the title!
