Fire extinguishers, smoke alarms, power strips, vacuums, washing machines and portable generators were among the 28 items that The Home Depot continued to sell even after the products were recalled, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced Wednesday.
NEW YORK (AP) -- Home Depot said that 56 million debit and credit cards are estimated to have been breached in a data theft between April and September at its stores in the U.S. and Canada. That makes it the second-largest breach for a retailer on record.
Home Depot is just the latest large-scale company to investigate a possible credit card data breach, and New Jersey Assembly Republican Leader Jon Bramnick predicts it will not be the last retailer to face the problem. He is telling companies to report possible hacking to the proper authorities.
The bright orange and white of a Home Depot sign might seem common place to many residents of the Garden State, but it's a new sight for Seaside Heights, as the big box retailer opens a satellite store aimed at helping contractors and residents repair after Sandy.
