A top National Rifle Association official on Tuesday accused President Barack Obama of seeking to redefine the rights of gun owners, telling a hunting and wildlife conservation group that the president's use of the word "absolutism" in his inauguration speech was an attack on law-abiding citizens who own firearms.
As the debate continues on gun violence and how best to prevent it, one Garden State lawmaker is urging all Central New Jersey residents to turn in any automatic or semi-automatic weapons they may have lying around the house, during a special gun buy-back program being held at the end of this week.
Governor Chris Christie has created a bi-partisan task force to look at what causes gun violence including; mental health issues, addiction, gun laws, school safety and the level of violence in society.
