There is the old idiom about never letting the fox guard the henhouse. It rings true with a governor who decides to spend a million dollars of taxpayers' money in hiring a high priced law firm to investigate himself then having himself 'cleared' in the Bridgegate scandal.

Up until a couple of months ago, Governor Christie seemed to have free reign at his regularly scheduled town hall meetings. Crowds for the most part were friendly, polite – with the occasional outburst from someone in the audience who’d draw the Governor’s ire – and eventually wind up a virtual star on Youtube...

In Trenton, the legislature is planning to revive a bill which, among other things, would allow Governor Christie to earn income from a book deal while still in office.
