FDA strengthens warning on surgical device linked to cancer

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- U.S. regulators on Monday strengthened their warning against use of a once-popular device for gynecologic surgery that can spread unsuspected cancer, saying its risk is only justified in a fraction of patients.

Fla. jury slams RJ Reynolds with $23.6B in damages

MIAMI (AP) -- A Florida jury has slammed the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with $23.6 billion in punitive damages in a lawsuit filed by the widow of a longtime smoker who died of lung cancer in 1996.
