A southern New Jersey couple has sued Gov. Chris Christie over his signing of a bill banning so-called "gay conversion therapy," claiming it violates their constitutional rights.
The controversial practice known as "conversion therapy" would be banned for minors in New Jersey under a bill that has cleared an Assembly panel today. The measure is designed to protect minors from being forced to undergo the scientifically unfounded practice in an attempt to change their sexual orientation.
The State Senate Health Committee has given the green light to a measure that would forbid licensed therapists from using so-called "conversion therapy" to try and get gay minors to become heterosexuals.
