A warning for New Jersey parents of young children: According to a report by AAA, 75 percent of children in child safety seats are not correctly secured, or worse, not restrained at all.
For the first time, child car seats would have to protect children from death and injury in side-impact crashes, under regulations proposed today by the government.

A recent study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute found that only 21 of 98 vehicles tested made car seat installation a smooth and easy process.
