At the end of December, Congress approved a two-month payroll tax cut extension which is set to expire at the end of February. U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) says if allowed to expire, the median New Jersey family will see their taxes jump $1,141 due to the 10 months remaining in 2012 in which they would no longer see tax relief.

The U.S. Senate is expected to vote tomorrow on the Middle Class Tax Act, which would expand and extend the payroll tax cut, putting more than $2,000 back into the pocket of the average New Jersey family next year. Jersey U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) is a co-sponsor of the bill.

New Jersey's U.S. Senator Robert Menendez plans to introduce the Child Abuse Reporting Enforcement (CARE) Act that would require states to mandate the reporting of child abuse to law enforcement and child protective services in order to receive federal social services funding, and to make it a felony for any individual who fails to report such abuse
