Following a four-day extension, New Jersey's annual black bear hunt ended Saturday night with hunters harvesting a total of 510 bruins over the course of 10 days.
As day four of New Jersey's annual black bear hunt came to a close, state officials reported that hunters managed to harvest 24 bears - the lowest total since the culling efforts began earlier this week.
New Jersey's 2015 bear hunt began Monday the same way as it did in 2014: The first bear hunter to deliver his kill to the Whittingham Wildlife Management Area in Sussex County was also the first to arrive with a dead bear last year.
