Sweeney shoots down self-serve
It is a curious position by Senate President Steve Sweeney, coming out in strong opposition against allowing self-serve gas in New Jersey.
It is curious because Sweeney wants to be governor, and this is an issue that has polarized debate in the Garden State, which has passions running high on both sides of it.
So what would be his motivation?
Sweeney claims it is about jobs, but that argument does not appear to be valid.
In fact, even lobbyists for gas stations now support the self-serve option.
This may be a personal stance, instead, with Sweeney taking a swipe at the Republican assemblyman who sponsored the bill.
