NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP — A sports utility vehicle drove into a Jersey Shore Wawa gas station Monday morning,  pushing several waiting cars into the pumps.

Witness Bud McCormick said the SUV and a car were both traveling eastbound on Route 33 when they tried to get into the same lane and collided around 9 a.m. The SUV jumped the curb and hit four several cars parked at the pumps waiting to fill up, McCormick said.

"I was getting my burritos and this kid (attendant) comes running in and said he almost got hit," McCormick said, adding that he did not smell gasoline following the crash. McCormick said there did not appear to be any injuries.

Neptune Township police said a total of five vehicles were involved with the crash and there was no damage to the pumps. Police said they did not know what caused the SUV to slide into the gas stations, and their investigation is ongoing.
