Essex County prosecutors say 24-year-old Shawn Watford surrendered to them on Monday to face murder and weapons possession charges. He remained jailed Tuesday on $1 million bail, and it's not known if he has retained a lawyer.

Watford and 20-year-old Mark Lovette -- who was arrested last week -- are charged in the May 27 shooting of Malcolm Bagley. Another man was injured in the shooting in Orange, and authorities believe Bagley was an innocent bystander.

Bagley was captain of Orange High's football team and graduated in 2011. The 19-year-old had attended Dean College in Massachusetts and played on the football team there.

A motive for the shooting remains unclear.
