Surfer Rescued Off Coast of NJ
The Coast Guard and a fishing vessel crew have come to the aid of a surfer in distress in waters off central New Jersey.
A caller contacted Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook on Sunday morning to report the surfer's plight, and they notified the New York sector's command center. Officials there then sought search and rescue support from Air Station Atlantic City and issued an urgent marine information broadcast about the surfer, who was in waters near Sea Bright and couldn't paddle back to shore.
Meanwhile, firefighters who were at the Sea Bright beach were able to contact crew members aboard the Changing Course, a fishing vessel that happened to be in the area. The crew then rescued the surfer as shown in the above photo courtesy of Jersey Shore Hurricane News.
