ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka has taken the stand to testify in a hearing to determine if he's competent to stand trial on charges he killed his girlfriend.

The 73-year-old pro wrestling star is charged with murder and involuntary manslaughter in the 1983 death of Nancy Argentino. He has pleaded not guilty.

The defense contends Snuka is unfit to stand trial partly because of head trauma he suffered over his career in the ring. Snuka testified Friday that he can't remember his mother's last name. He's also seemed confused about his age and birth name.

A defense expert testified that Snuka suffers from dementia but prosecutors say his brain shows only normal signs of aging.

A Lehigh County judge will decide whether Snuka, of Waterford Township, New Jersey, can stand trial.
