Temperatures on Thursday will reach the lower 80s with lower humidity with a wind out of the northeast gusting to 20 mph. Jersey Shore beaches will be dotted with yellow and red flags to warn swimmers of a moderate risk of rip currents.  In Harvey Cedars on Long Beach Island due to the rough surf swimming has been prohibited along with the use of boogie boards, rafts, tubes, floats.

Conditions will remain the same on Friday with less wind.

The weekend should be okay overall with partly sunny skies as both temperatures and humidity head towards oppressive levels. "In fact, with heat index (apparent temperature) values bumping into the upper 90s, Sunday and early next week will border on “dangerous heat” so we’ll need to be especially careful to stay cool and hydrated," according to meteorologist Dan Zarrow.

Zarrow also expects the threat of strong thunderstorms to increase across the entire state during the weekend, especially in the afternoon.
