Sunday weather – Wintry mix could cause road troubles in NJ

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Another round of wintry weather is headed to New Jersey.

Forecasters say a mix of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain will start falling across the state Sunday morning, and the precipitation will continue through early Monday. Temperatures during that time are expected to be in the high 20s to the mid 30s.

Townsquare Media Meteorologist Dan Zarrow's 5-Day forecast calls for a total snow accumulation of about an inch.

Northern areas will mostly see frozen precipitation, with anywhere from 2 to 6 inches of snow and sleet possible. But central and southern Jersey will see mostly freezing rain and rain, with an inch or so of sleet and snow expected in central Jersey.

The wintry mix could create icy travel conditions, so the National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for the state. It's due to be in effect from 10 a.m. Sunday through 4 a.m. Monday.
