TRENTON — A lawsuit filed last month in Superior Court blamed the city school district and its former bus company for a student's alleged sexual assault on a school bus in 2015.

According to NJ.com, a special needs student at Joyce Kilmer Middle School was sexually assaulted by another student on the bus who also made an video recording of the assault. The lawsuit says neither the driver nor the aide on the bus did enough to stop the assault as it was happening.

The NJ.com story cited another incident in the district earlier this year when a male student allegedly put his groin in the face of a 5-year-old girl, and a spokesperson for the district said there have been at least three incidents on buses used by the district in the past year.

At a meeting last week, the district terminated its contract with Delaware Valley Bus Line.
