Strauss-Kahn, NY Hotel Maid to Settle, AP Source Says

A person familiar with the case says former International Monetary Fund chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn and a New York City hotel maid who accused him of trying to rape her have reached an agreement to settle her lawsuit.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on Thursday on condition of anonymity to discuss the private negotiation.

Strauss-Kahn lawyer William Taylor won't comment. Lawyers for the housekeeper haven't responded to messages.

The French newspaper Le Monde, citing people close to Strauss-Kahn, says the parties will meet Dec. 7 in New York to sign a $6 million agreement.

The deal would end a legal saga that forced Strauss-Kahn's resignation as head of the IMF and ended his French presidential ambitions last year. Prosecutors dropped related criminal charges.

The New York Times first reported the agreement.
