Most of those affected are in the southern part of the state.

Atlantic City Electric reports about 26,700 customers without power, primarily in Atlantic and Cape May counties.

Public Service Electric & Gas, the state's largest utility, reports 1,170 customers have lost power, while Jersey Central Power & Light says just under 2,400 are affected.

But just a handful of Orange and Rockland Electric customers have no service.

The storm is expected to linger over the state and produce high winds, rain, freezing rain and snow through Friday morning.
