TRENTON (AP) — The acting president of Stockton University says it may scrap a thus-far unsuccessful deal to transform a former Atlantic City casino into a satellite campus.

Harvey Kesselman told a state Senate panel Thursday his university wants to "get out from under this as quickly as possible."

Kesselman says Stockton still wants another facility in Atlantic City, but acknowledges it will probably be somewhere else in the city.

Kesselman calls the deal to use the former Showboat casino as a satellite campus "a mistake" that could have worked perfectly had the legal situation been clearer.

Stockton still does not have clear title to the building, which it bought for $18 million in December, due to a legal restriction on its use.
