The music legend wrapped up production this week for his role in the documentary "Just Before the Dawn," a film about the history of the famous Upstage Club in Asbury Park. Along with being part of the film, Steven Van Zandt and the Disciples of Soul will perform during the festival on Saturday, April 22 at the Paramount Theatre.

Just Before The Dawn is a riveting documentary that focuses on the Upstage Club in Asbury Park which helped launch the careers of Springsteen, Stevie Van Zandt, most of the E Street Band, Southside Johnny, Sonny Kenn and many others. It also focuses on the riots of 1970 in Asbury Park and shines a spotlight on how a divided city came together through the power of its music.

I had the honor and privilege of narrating Just Before The Dawn and I hope you will join me for the world premiere Friday, April 21, at the Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park. It will be followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Tom Jones as well as a jam session with Jeff Kazee and Upstage All Stars. It's a must-see show for any fan of Jersey music and you never know who may show up to play a song or two.

That's just two events from what promises to be an epic weekend at the 3rd annual Asbury Music and Film Festival. Enjoy other world premieres of films, along with panel discussions, and live music performances throughout the many venues in Asbury Park.

Plus don't forget this is all for a good cause. The festival will benefit the under served children in Asbury Park by providing music education, instruments and social connection opportunities. Specifically, funds raised through the APMFF will support three programs including Hope Academy, The Hip Hop Institute, and the Asbury Park Summer Recreation Music Camp.

I can't wait and I hope to see you there!
