Trooper Kevin Byrne recently pleaded guilty to drunken driving in connection with the July 2012 crash in Lake Como. His driver’s license was suspended for three months and he was fined $514.

The 34-year-old trooper was arrested at his home in nearby Spring Lake Heights shortly after the accidents occurred. No one was injured in any of the crashes.

Byrne was suspended without pay shortly after his arrest, and that will continue until an ongoing internal affairs investigation is concluded. The 10-year veteran of the force most recently served with an elite emergency response unit.
