State Police: Remains Found in Sandy Hook Bay
The Monmouth County Medical Examiner will determine whether remains found in Sandy Hook Bay this weekend are those of a fisherman who went missing earlier this month.
State police tell the Asbury Park Press the remains were found Saturday near the Gateway National Recreation Area's Sandy Hook unit. But further details on the discovery were not disclosed, and authorities say it's not clear if the remains are those of a human or an animal.
The fisherman, Edward Broderick, was last heard from on Dec. 14, when he told a friend that his vessel was en route to a clamming facility in Highlands.
The friend reported him missing about four hours later, and Broderick's submerged vessel was found outside the marina where he originally intended to end his trip.
