Spring Cleaning at the Beach? Beach Sweeps Begin This Weekend

It's that time of year again when many of us are doing spring cleaning in our homes, so why not help clean up the beach? 

Clean Ocean Action is inviting residents and organizations to participate in the 27th Annual Spring Beach Sweeps this Saturday at more than 70 sites along the Jersey Shore.

The events begin at 9:00 and end at 12:30 p.m., rain or shine."The Beach Sweeps offer citizens the opportunity to give back to their local marine environment, as well as become citizen scientists for the day," said Tavia Danch, Clean Ocean Action's Education Coordinator.  "It's not only about cleaning up the beaches, it's about collecting data to help reduce sources of pollution.  Volunteers will be recording all of the information that is collected so it can be analyzed and published in our annual reports."
