My colleague Jessica Nutt spent Wednesday morning with Rene Stone, the founder of Serenity Stables in Middletown. Rene runs a program to help open up veterans who have been paralyzed.

On Wednesday, veterans from the Bronx VA Hospital were treated to a Christmas party. She talked to the veterans at the party, who have brain and spinal cord injuries, about how they spend nearly every day at the hospital and it's nice to get out to a horse farm in NJ for a real change of pace.

In 2015, Rene Stone founded Serenity Stables From Combat to Calm in Middletown, NJ. The program runs on 100% donation only. They provide equine therapy to veterans and active military members.
